About
It takes many people to get the message out about recycling to all of the fans on game day, and the Game Day Recycling committee could not complete the project without the help of volunteers. There are two options for volunteering. Volunteers can distribute bags to tailgaters ("Tailgaters") or greet fans as they go into the Stadium ("Green Greeters"). Volunteer shifts are about one hour on game day, and all volunteer shifts finish in time for kickoff. Job descriptions and the volunteer schedule and are provided below.
Volunteering for Game Day Recycling is a great way to support the team and give back to Tech. Volunteers will receive a 100% organic cotton T-shirt, pizza or a food voucher, and a chance to win great prizes, including gift certificates to campus and local merchants.
Game Day Recycling Volunteer Job Descriptions
Tailgater
Tailgating volunteers work in teams of four to distribute blue recycling bags to fans who are tailgating on campus. Meet in the Student Commons (next to Einstein Bagels) to check in and pick up your T-shirt. Your team will get a map that has an area of campus highlighted and 100 blue plastic bags. Hand out bags to tailgating groups located in your highlighted area. Please remind fans that the bags are for plastic bottles, glass bottles, and aluminum cans, and after filling the bags they can just leave them on the ground. The bags will be picked up by GT Facilities employees. Teams stationed near the Student Center will be walking, and teams stationed across campus will ride in GT Facilities golf carts to distribute bags. Once your team has distributed all of its bags, you are free to leave; you do not have to sign out. Your entire shift should take 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Pizza will be provided for all of the "Tailgater" volunteers!
Green Greeter
Green Greeters work in teams of two or more, and each of the teams will be assigned to one of the ten stadium gates. Meet outside the stadium at Gate 7 to check in and pick up your T-shirt. Your role is to greet fans at the gate and encourage them to put their bottles and cans in the green and white 
recycling bins before they go inside the stadium. Your presence will make the Game Day Recycling Program much more visible and raise awareness of recycling. Your shift begins one hour before kickoff, and ends when the game starts. When your shift ends you are free to leave; you do not have to sign out. Your entire shift is 1 hour.
The first 20 "Green Greeters" for each game will receive an $8 concessions voucher for use inside the stadium! You can use it at any home football game this season. (Note: We do not provide tickets to the game. You will need a ticket in order to enter the stadium.)

Thanks to the generosity of campus and local merchants, Game Day Recycling volunteers are eligible to win some fantastic prizes! For each volunteer shift you complete, you will receive a raffle ticket for that day's prize drawing. As an added incentive, everyone who wears their green T-shirt from a previous game will receive an extra raffle ticket. Please wear your green Game Day Recycling volunteer T-shirt if you already have one!
